Phlomis x margaritae is a Jerusalem sage that practices more diplomacy than some of its brighter relatives. The flowers, of soft butter-yellow, blend harmoniously with a subdued color palette. Add interest with broad, attractive silver foliage. This is a wonderful plant for anyone with regular deer or escapee goats, and hard clay with some drainage.
This shrub will drop its leaves if we get a hard frost down to 15°F or so, but has no trouble pushing new growth in the spring.
