A clump of purple-tipped pinnate leaves undergirds soft pink flowers with yellow centers blooming May and into June. It enjoys acid woodland humus and is happy under conifers including pines — a native to middle-elevation, shady woodlands of the West Coast. Note that it goes summer dormant to cope with summer drought conditions, but extra water will keep it green if you prefer.
