Easily one of the most superb bark trees to be had, with polished rings of mahogany bark that exfoliate and become sunlit amber-orange shards in the evening light. The leaves are dark green and narrow, and the flowers, opening white from pink buds, bloom early- through mid-spring. But really, it's about the bark, 'bout the bark!  This tree can defoliate with extended periods of heat above 90°. 

Grafted to Prunus avium rootstock
