'Rotlaub' (red leaf) has dark chocolate-brown to coppery-red leaves (similar in shape to that of chestnut leaves) making this one of the best foliage plants for moist shade. Three-foot-tall stems terminate in a creamy-white, flowery plume. It's slow to propagate but the drama it creates makes it all worthwhile. Try it in combination with variegated hosta, Farfugium, Ligularia, sedges, and Sarracenia.
