Bred and introduced in 1968 by Dr. Robert Basye, this rose is a lovely cross of R. rugosa and R. foliolosa. The single flowers are a rich, velvety, purple-crimson-wine, and bloom in sequence on arching stems of dark plum-purple throughout the season! (For the romantic with a renaissance bent.) This large shrub grows 7 or 8 feet tall and wide with a nice compact, arching habit. Very disease-resistant and dependable. Fragrant.
