'Silke's Dream' attracts bees and hummingbirds! Prolific bright coral-red blooms cover the low, wide plant from summer till hard frost. Our plant was still blooming on November 19th, 2025, making it through a frost to 25° F.
'Silke's Dream' is a hybrid between Salvia darcyi x Salvia microphylla. It brings more garden setting friendliness from S. darcyi and the compact size and small foliage from S. microphylla. Discovered by Art Petley in Texas.
Best grown in full sun, well-drained soil, with occasional summer water. Looks best with a mid-summer trim to keep a compact shape and a fuller second flush of blooms. Leave st stems through the winter to help provide protection. To increase hardiness, keep on the dry side, or provide sharp drainage over the winter.
