Ruffled purple foliage with bronze-green and mercury-pink veins radiating out from the center of the palmate, incised leaves. A gorgeous, well-loved selection with shiny beet-red undersides of the leaves. Stems of airy pale-pink flower spikes with unusual, but graceful unevenly matched petals.

A cool, shaded position in some nice humus will yield the best results and a fair companion for ferns, hostas, and other woodland beauties.

"Saxifraga fortunei was first described in 1863 by William Jackson Hooker from a Chinese collection and named for the adventurer Robert Fortune." - Alpine Garden Society
