Deciduous vine for a shady site. 'Moonlight' features large, pale, blue-green, heart-shaped leaves have a silver sheen and impressed reddish veining. Large, 8-10 inch diameter, fragrant white lace-cap flowers bloom for over a month in summer. With age it becomes ever more floriferous — have patience for ample rewards. This vine needs no support as it has clinging rootlets, ideal for climbing rock walls or tree trunks. It can also be a charming groundcover.
In our area with little to no summer rain, this vine grows best in dappled shade sites, but tolerates full to part sun in other, more moist situations. This vine requires regular summer water to become established, but does not tolerate standing water.
