A distinctive plant from South Africa: In coral-reds and pinks, its pendent and tubular florets are borne in rows the length of three-foot-long spikes, aloe-like. Sword-shaped leaves keep company, much in the way of iris leaves. Hailing from clay and shale soils, you'll find this plant tolerant of many tough conditions and an easy and rewarding plant to grow. And, the springtime bloom attracts hummingbirds but, thankfully, not deer!
