One of the most heavily-scented of Clematis, with a fragrance redolent of marzipan. Star-like white flowers have tips with brush strokes of violet that bloom profusely midsummer to fall. Ideally, it needs rich, well-drained soil but will tolerate being planted at the base of a conifer once it has been established with initial watering. AGM winner. Climber 10 – 15'. Group 3 — prune hard in late winter as flowers bloom on new wood. This is an exquisite hybrid between Clematis flammula and C. viticella.
