Arctostaphylos 'Blue Bear' is a Dancing Oaks Selection. Nursery owners Fred and Leonard wrote "3x3 amazing blue color with very clean foliage" in their notes when they came across it near Grants Pass. In the gardens here, it has been prone to some winter spotting but is so stunning in late summer that we give it a pass every year. We have our plant at the east end of an East/West berm so there might be less spotting in a site with more airflow.

'Blue Bear' has been a favorite due to its pale peachy-pink new growth with the blue backdrop of older foliage. This is especially dramatic in a young plant, but continues consistantly. See the last photo for its first summer foliage. 

Mature size: 4 ft T x 6 ft W at 7 years old

Minimum temperature: 0º F

Not recommended for hot and humid climates.
