A well-behaved deciduous ground cover fern with feathery (plumose) fronds, at first light green, then bluish-green. Given freedom, it will create a delicate carpet in a woodsy area or can be happy tucked among the rockery with a bit of shade. Spreading but not invasive; easily curtailed. Naturally grows on shale talus slopes as a forest understory plant. Appreciates moist organic rich soil.
