Fan-shaped, shiny green, 2 – 3-inch wide leaves are blushed with red throughout the summer and then turn fire-red in fall. Light to open shade makes the best leaf color. Starry, white spring flowers held on 12-inch stems sprinkle themselves above the leaves. At home in the woodland garden, this plant makes an unusual and successful clumping ground cover with a pronounced pattern.
