'Guanajuato' was discovered in 1991 during an English botanical expedition in the Sierra de Guanajuato in Mexico. Two-inch-long Gentian-blue parrot's beak flowers bloom in mid to late summer (for us well into fall) on this branching clumper. Contrary to what you might think, it prefers bright or dappled shade. Mulch heavily for winter in the Northwest. Sharp drainage is its fervent desire because, again contrary to what you might think, 'Guanajuato' likes to be watered fairly regularly!
