Sometimes nature's design just can't be improved upon. The Pointleaf is a must-have for the Manzanita collector. Upright, vase-like growth habit with lustrous red-brown bark provides a handsome background for the hairy, elliptic to lance-elliptic shaped leaves. The new foliage emerges grey-green and matte, becoming leathery and resinous as it matures to a bright but deep green. Adapted to transition zones from rocky slopes, conifer forests, to open chaparral lowlands. Perfect as a standalone statement, unique in its height and shape for filling in above other shrubs (more manzanitas of course), but can even be allowed to root in from low branches to form a screening thicket. North slopes to full sun.
