Dangling, deep red flower buds form on stems before the leaves open; flowers open slowly first from the top of the cluster. This is a fast-growing, adaptable shrub with thick sturdy stems. Deciduous.  Hummingbirds will do battle for the nectar-loaded velvety red flowers of this selection.
