The Japanese Primula are always much appreciated by us gardeners for their hardiness, tidy behavior (they go summer-dormant in high heat, instead of just looking terrible for months), and sparkler-like blooms held above their foliage, easy to see in your spring garden bed.

This cultivar has soft, billowy, large (1.5-2 inch) white blooms that look like fairies airing out their sheets. The blooms lightly nod down.

Best grown in dappled to full shade with summer water. Clumps in mostly to full sun will survive, especially in temperate climates, but they will be slower to spread and will go summer-dormant faster. These Primula are happy to grow from Alaska to the deep south. The bloom season is extended into June with cooler weather.

Mature size: 6-8 inches tall; politely spreading

Minimum temperature: -30° F
