'Gawen' is a unique bellflower, right out of a fairytale tea party, with a pure white cup-and-saucer bloom held aloft on delicate, slender stems. Easy to grow with moderate summer water and well-drained soil. Established plants require less summer water. Blooms mid to late summer in full sun; afternoon shade appreciated in hot summer climates. This plant is generally intolerant of the extreme heat of the Deep South. Native to open woods, shrubby slopes, and mountain meadows of Europe and Asia. The perennial basal rosettes remain semi-evergreen in moderate climates.
