Arching spikes of thickly-clustered, deep blue tubular flowers bloom in May over evergreen rosettes of glossy scalloped leaves; this compact rare jewel comes from the Carnic Alps on the Austro-Italian border where it is endemic. Give it well-draining gritty soil to remind it of home. Seldom seen in cultivation.
