Japanese species lily produces a luminescent candelabrum of golden-yellow, reflexed flowers freckled with maroon. Blooms rise high on dark purple stems with short, narrow, dark green foliage. Appreciates shaded roots and some summer water in soil that freely drains.

Species is closely related to L. lancifolium, the tiger lily.
