Wiry gray stems zig zag to form a dense but airy thicket, and can form a medium to large shrub. Fragrant yellow starry flowers in spring are followed by an occasional orange fruit amid the tiny round leaves. Be sure to supply it with well-draining soil. Native to New Zealand coastal areas it is undaunted by salt spray or winds.
