Endemic to California where it can be found growing on the sandstone bluffs of Santa Rosa Island in the Channel Islands; this manzanita is listed as an endangered species. Few plants of the species remain on the island and many of these individuals are threatened by the cattle, elk, and deer which like to browse on the tender new growth of this smaller manzanita. Add character to the garden with the addition of the twisting form of 'The Giant' while contributing to the preservation of the species. We find the fuzzy fruit, bristly green leaves, and dense bunches of pearly white to pale pink flowers add to its charm.
