Preferring poor, sandy, acidic soil, this

mat-forming evergreen ground cover will withstand a range of soil types; salt-tolerant, too. It is especially vigorous and resistant to diseases like leaf spots, galls, and mildew. Fast-growing and healthy, it blankets well!. Jade green leaves turn orange in winter; pink urn-shaped blooms in spring are followed by scarlet berries in summer. Selected and introduced by UBC Botanic Garden, British Columbia, Canada, because of its improved disease resistance over the species.  Appreciates afternoon shade and some summer water in locations with high summer temperatures.
