Discovered by Roman Ganklin and W. Richard Hildreth; 'Sunset' develops red-purple-brown shaggy bark as it matures and the rounded green leaves that begin life as coppery-orange buds. This naturally occuring hybrid, discovered near Prunedale in Monterey County, involved A. pajaroensis and A. hookeri and has pinkish-white urn-shaped flowers that are unexpectedly lovely in combination with the new leaves. One of our favorites!

Carefully packed for each plant

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.

We reuse clean paper and plastic packing materials whenever practical. It is easier on the planet and helps keep shipping costs down for you, too.
