Named for French botanist and herbalist Matthias de l'Obel (1538-1616), these narrow, fiery-orange-red, yellow-throated trumpet flowers host bees and hummingbirds early summer through fall. Long-lived, our clumps in the garden are 16+ years old and going strong! It is native to the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains of Southern Arizona and Northern Mexico, and as such is highly adaptable to capricious circumstances, taking water or drought as nature dishes it out. Floriferous and exuberant, it's able to completely fill an allotment with a phalanx of willowy leaves and flowers! Revel!
