Mahonia 'Soft Caress' is an excellent evergreen foliage plant that provides a bamboo-like fine texture for the shade garden. It's also ideal for containers if you'd like something that holds its form year-round and always looks great. Canary-yellow flowers bloom in fall to late winter and are followed by large steely blue fruit in spring. If pruning becomes necessary, remove individual stems to the ground.
