Large, luscious, deep rose-purple gloxinia-like flowers with yellow and white spotted throats festoon this clumping perennial. The leaves are deeply toothed on lax stems and the late spring to summer bloom hangs downward with an outward projecting opening. While vaguely reminiscent of foxglove (on steroids) it is, in fact, unrelated—oh, the woes of common names. The Chinese part is accurate, though.
