Solidago gigantea is a North American native perennial that provides the Solidago signature bright yellow sprays at the end of summer. The sprays occur at the end of tall stems up to 7 ft. The stems grow straight up with minimal and very light "branching." Excellent at the back or center of garden beds.
It grows best in full sun with regular water but tolerates light shade and some summer drought. In heavy humid summers, it will be less rigid and may lean.
In our garden, we grow it in light shade with summer water and our three-year-old (as of 2024) plant grows 6 ft T x 1.5 ft W.
Mature size: 5-7 ft T x 2-4 ft W
Minimum temperature: -30° F
