Deep burgundy/black/dark green highly textural leaves spread beneath vertical spires of sky-blue to violet in late spring. Glossy, the leaves glint in the sunlight like the riffled surface of a dark lake in wind - a groundcover mat forms from these spreading, dramatic leafy rosettes. Plants will thrive if shielded from hot afternoon sun and given summer water. The foliage is tough, deer-resistant and tolerates some light foot traffic.
