Arctostaphylos gabilanensis is a rare species of manzanita, endemic to California, where it is known only from two disjunct populations in the Gabilan Mountain Range-which forms the northeastern boundary of the Salinas Valley.  It was only botanically recognized in 2004 because of its very limited distribution on private land.  The upright growth habit of overlapping grey-green leaves gives this species a singular character.  Rosy tipped new growth adds to its appeal as a landscape plant.  Appreciates no summer water and excellent drainage once established. Blooms with white bells starting in late December.

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.

We reuse clean paper and plastic packing materials whenever practical. It is easier on the planet and helps keep shipping costs down for you, too.
