This species of manzanita features bright pink blooms starting as early as September and continuing as late as March with a very long peak bloomtime from December to February. The sturdy bell-shaped flowers are undaunted by snow, ice, or rain. The foliage tends to be a olive-toned green and the shrub has the beautiful deep mahogany bark characteristic of the genus.

This high elevation species is not for garden beds with any nearby (9 ft +) drip systems. Some species and selections are more accepting of more traditional garden bed conditions, this one is not. In our location, we water our newly planted manzanitas once a week for 30 seconds with a full blast hose only for their first summer

2026 - A. patula sourced from a plant coming to us from Las Pilitas Nursery with longer, narrower foliage than selections we've grown from more Northern areas, more elliptical than ovate.
