A native understory shrub/tree in Chile, Azara is evergreen with glossy dark green leaves and downy branches. Fragrant, vanilla-scented spritzes of yellow in midsummer virtually cover the branches in June and July. Site against a warm wall where temperatures are less severe if you live in a colder clime. Worth a little pampering and responds well to judicious pruning.
