Extremely saturated dark violet-purple flowers line tall spikes on this rounded deciduous shrub. They bloom at least throughout June depending on climatic variation. After the blooming season, you still get interesting seed pods and a lovely, dense, rounded plant. Give a Baptisia some lousy soil and she will absolutely make the best of it. Fall clean-up is easy. Once it has had a hard frost the stems will detach from the crown.
