A rounded, deciduous large shrub or small tree up to 20 ft tall. This gratifying western native becomes covered with a profusion of flowers in spring. A soft, rose-purple haze enlivens the landscape from February to April. Very heat, drought, and clay tolerant, it's not for the coast; it needs distinct seasons to flower. Flowers emerge before the leaves and young pods are purportedly edible. Rounded heart-shaped leaves turn from a light green in spring, to medium green in summer, to a rich red in autumn. Butterflies will alight!

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.
