Racemes of pale yellow flowers dangle from zig-zagging bare stems in late winter. After the blooms, new leaves emerge from a bright, acid yellow with a red-rouge tint, then quickly turn golden yellow. The leaves will stay golden yellow with partial sun or will deepen to light green in full shade.
Unlike C. paucifloras, once well-established C. spicata species & cultivars can tolerate some periods of drought.
