Elegant deciduous shrub with a twiggy upright growth habit. 'Miyama Beni' blooms with masses of deep red blooms in late spring. Fall leaf varients of red, yellow and purple.  The species is native to the open woodlands of Japan where it thrives in moist organic-rich soil with an acidic pH; making it an excellent companion plant for many Rhododendron species. Best situated with morning sun and afternoon shade.  Blooms on previous year's growth - prune immediately after flowering.   It is one of the best red-flowered selections we have ever grown.

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.

We reuse clean paper and plastic packing materials whenever practical. It is easier on the planet and helps keep shipping costs down for you, too.
