One of California's most distinctive native buckwheats, this rare species forms a compact mound of velvety silver foliage that shines in the garden year-round. Bright sulfur-yellow flower clusters rise above the leaves from late spring into summer, gradually aging to rich cinnamon-brown for months of added interest. This is a pollinator power plant: nectar & pollen for bees & butterflies, seeds for birds, and habitat for lots of other mini-beasts in the garden.
