This North American sea holly's native range spans the length of Mexico, and it features long, spiky dark green basal foliage rather than the rounded blue leaves of the more commonly seen European species. The flowers are still the fun, slightly creepy thistle-like spikes that won the hearts of all of us Eryngium enthusiasts; the bracts are a true gray rather than blue-silver.

Makes an excellent cut flower, both fresh and dried.

Best grown in full sun in sharply-draining soil. Intermittent water is appreciated.

Mature size: 24-36 in T x 6-12 in W

Minimum temperature: TBD° F, at least 15° F
