We are always on the hunt for more spectacular witch hazels. They bring much-needed color and fragrance to the late winter. 'Tsukubana-kurenai', selected by famed Japanese nurseryman, Akira Shibamichi, won us over with its large, bright cherry red flowers. Being an H. japonica, it is often one of the last to begin its bloom.

We offer two true red blooming witch hazels: Hamamelis 'Sally's Red' has smaller, denser blooms and a wider, lower canopy, 'Tsukubana-kurenai' has more purple in its red, and grows a bit more upright.

Carefully packed for each plant

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.

We reuse clean paper and plastic packing materials whenever practical. It is easier on the planet and helps keep shipping costs down for you, too.
