Our Northwest native shrub, Ocean Spray has abundant, frothy, foamy, white floral sprays on arching branches in early summer. This native does amazingly well in both aspects of sun and high shade. It is always a delight to behold while walking through our woods outside the nursery deer fence with the greyhounds.
During times of summer drought stress, usually in hot full sun with minimal summer water, ocean spray can drop its leaves or start its fall show quite early - don't worry, this is a normal survival technique. To lessen this effect, mulch the soil well and make sure it gets deep watering in the spring.
