A golden seedling of the rare Florida native anise introduced by Plant Delights Nursery. The chartreuse foliage provides excellent contrast with deep greens. The foliage gets its best color with light and heat. Deer-resistant and somewhat drought-tolerant once established in the Southeast US.

In Oregon, this shrub grows best in dappled to full shade. Other climates that get summer rain can grow this anywhere from full sun to full shade. It is an evergreen shrub, but in colder zones, it can slouch quite a bit in late winter before recovering in the spring.

Despite the common name, it is NOT edible. Star Anise is a different species of the same genus.
