Iris with tall, jointed bambooesque stems are graced with fans of green leaves from which long flower stems bearing violet-blue, ruffled flowers emerge. Appreciates moist humus-rich soil with afternoon shade, but requires drainage. Evergreen in gardens with mild winters. Rarely seen in gardens. Named for UK plantsman Martyn Rix.
