A charmingly old-fashioned deciduous woodland shrub with double-flowered blooms of golden yellow that emerge in early spring on stems of bright green.  Arching branches support summer foliage of green that then turns an attractive shade of yellow in the Fall.  Appreciates some summer water and humus-rich soil though is tolerant of clay.  Can tolerate periods of drought once established.
