Rich, velvety petals of dramatically dark crimson are arranged in double rows on five-inch blossoms. Golden anthers and red filaments add eye-catching contrast. The unusual color, coupled with a burnished, lustrous glow, is prized by floral designers. This heirloom cross of P. officinalis x P. albiflora was introduced in 1956 by Walter Mains. Sturdy stems on a compact plant and an extra early bloom period, add to its outstanding qualities. Presented with the Award of Landscape Merit for superior landscape qualities in 2009 and the American Peony Society’s Gold Medal in 2010.

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.

We reuse clean paper and plastic packing materials whenever practical. It is easier on the planet and helps keep shipping costs down for you, too.
