One of the easiest to grow of all the exquisite Chinese mayapples, P. versipelle is a sturdy plant perfect for bringing the tropical look to the shade garden. Deeply lobed geometric leaves of glossy green perch atop a solitary 3-foot fleshy green stem. As the plant matures, clusters of fascinating deep red lantern-shaped flowers appear just under the leaf in spring. Bright red fruit follows in fall.

Carefully packed for each plant

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.

We reuse clean paper and plastic packing materials whenever practical. It is easier on the planet and helps keep shipping costs down for you, too.
