The Bamboo-leaf oak is one of those trees that makes passers-by exclaim "That's an oak?!?" upon asking for its ID. This tree features long, eliptical, glossy, green foliage, smooth gray bark, and an upright, rounded, dense canopy. The new growth emerges a deep maroon and lightens to pink in early spring. It's relatively fast growing for an oak if given regular water, and grows 15 ft T in 10 years. The canopy is a narrow pyramid at first, broadening out with age. This tree will eventually get quite tall, ~40 ft, if very happy. It's a real prize for the larger scale landscape. Plan ahead for your grandchildren: the branches are muscular and low and numerous, terrific for climbing! No grandchildren expected? Climb it yourself at any age that you're able!

Best grown in full or part sun, requires decently draining soils and regular water.

Once your order is ready, we bring the plants from our greenhouses into a holding area. Each plant is wrapped by hand and, when needed, staked to protect tender stems. Because our inventory is so diverse, we adjust the packing method for each plant based on its size, type, and stage of growth.

We reuse clean paper and plastic packing materials whenever practical. It is easier on the planet and helps keep shipping costs down for you, too.
