A cultivar of the East Coast native highbush blueberry, 'Chandler' produces perhaps the largest of all the berries. They come on in early summer following late spring clusters of white urn-shaped flowers. Equally ornamental, the pretty leaves turn reds and purples in autumn with significant red stems remaining in winter. This is the perfect mainstay for the edible garden. Blueberries are self-fertile but will benefit, nevertheless, from the presence of another variety blooming concurrently. Remove flowers the first and second years, then prune as needed in the third winter.
